Founder of Vaccine Industrial Company

Dr. Khaled Almosa is widely recognized as the Godfather of the biotechnology manufacturing industry, particularly in insulin, vaccines, and cancer treatment drugs, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and GCC countries. His visionary leadership and entrepreneurial spirit have driven substantial advancements in biotechnology and healthcare sectors.

Founding and Leadership:

Dr. Khaled Almosa is a visionary leader with over three decades of extensive experience across various industries. He is a trailblazer in the biotechnology field, being the first Saudi national to invest in and establish pioneering biotechnology manufacturing industries. His contributions have been pivotal in shaping the biotechnology landscape in the region.

SAUDIBIO:

SAUDIBIO, the first and only manufacturer of insulin and biologics in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was founded by Dr. Khaled Almosa. This remarkable achievement was realized through strategic partnerships with renowned companies such as Novo Nordisk for insulin and Sandoz for biologics. In 2023, SAUDIBIO was acquired by Lifera, a company wholly owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Dr. Almosa’s leadership has driven the founding of numerous companies across diverse sectors. His strategic insight and business acumen have positioned him as a prominent shareholder in multiple enterprises, contributing significantly to their growth and success. Vaccine Industrial Holding Company (VIC):

Dr. Khaled Almosa is the founder and Chairman of the Vaccine Industrial Holding Company (VIC). VIC hosts the first human vaccine manufacturing facility in Saudi Arabia, which is also the largest in the Middle East. This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant milestone in the nation’s advancements in biotechnology and public health. VIC has formed partnerships with world-class global manufacturers to ensure the highest standards in vaccine production, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and best practices to deliver high-quality vaccines to the region.

Building the Biotech Industry: Industrial Engineering and Project Management Company:

Dr. Almosa was the founder and Chairman of the globally recognized industrial engineering company with partnerships with recognized global and local organizations such as KeyPlants, Zyme Biotech, Shahin Engineering Consultancy, Inotek, and Jadwa Contractors. Bioera serves markets across the GCC, USA, Europe, and India, further solidifying Dr. Almosa’s reputation as a renowned figure in the industry. His ability to establish and lead successful biotech ventures has made a lasting impact on the global biotechnology landscape, driving innovation and setting new benchmarks for excellence in the field.

MedTech Group of Companies:

Dr. Almosa founded and chaired the MedTech Group of Companies based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This group consists of a day surgery complex, medical centers, and medical supplies facilities, and is considered one of the top medical services providers in the region. The MedTech Group is known for its commitment to quality healthcare and innovative medical solutions, catering to the diverse needs of the community.

Management Consulting:

Dr. Almosa is a certified management consultant and chairman of Dr. Khaled Almosa Consulting Firm based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The firm is fully licensed by the Ministry of Commerce and provides a variety of services within biotech, R&D, investment opportunities, and business development sectors.

Biotech Innovation Company for R&D:

Dr. Almosa also founded the Biotech Innovation Company for R&D in collaboration with the globally renowned Baylor College of Medicine. These research and development activities are now being conducted in partnership with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) in Saudi Arabia. The company was granted funding from Saudi NIH to conduct clinical trials for MERS in Saudi Arabia.

Biotechnology Training Institute:

Dr. Almosa is currently establishing a biotechnology training institute in collaboration with global biotech training partners, namely: NATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR BIOPROCESSING RESEARCH & TRAINING (NIBRT). This groundbreaking project aims to provide specialized training in the biotech industry for Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries. It is the first and only institute of its kind in the region, poised to play a vital role in developing a skilled workforce for the biotechnology sector.

Supreme Committee for Research, Development & Innovation:

Dr. Khaled Almosa serves as a member of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development & Innovation, chaired by HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed Bin Salman, at the Council of Economic and Development Affairs, Council of Ministers, Saudi Arabia (2021-2024). His expertise and contributions are pivotal in shaping the future of biotechnology and healthcare in the region. His strategic guidance and vision have been instrumental in advancing research and development initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Dr. Almosa is a certified senior consultant with extensive expertise in healthcare management and business development.

He has earned an impressive range of academic qualifications, including a bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences from King Saud University (KSU) in Saudi Arabia, a master’s degree in Healthcare Management from Birmingham University in the United Kingdom, a PhD in Professional Studies from Hull University in the United Kingdom, and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from SWISS Business School in Switzerland. Additionally, he holds a certification in Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School in the United States.

Researches:

Dr. Almosa has led groundbreaking research, including the study titled “Investigating Factors That Impede Successful Vaccine Manufacturing Business in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Imperatives for Healthcare Sustainability.” This research aims to identify and address the challenges hindering successful vaccine manufacturing in the Kingdom, proposing strategies to enhance healthcare sustainability and support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals.

Dr. Almosa is the author of the book Pioneering Legacy: My Journey to Localize Insulin, Vaccines, and Cancer Treatment Drugs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia .
